Puppy Prep Program

When to start a new puppy?

We suggest starting grooming with your puppies ASAP. Now keep in mind, introducing a puppy to grooming DOES NOT mean they need a haircut right away! In fact we ideally would love to see a new puppy a few times before an actual haircut so they can learn the ins and outs of the grooming process with no expectation of completing a haircut. This allows us to build a bond and trust with your puppy. Puppy haircuts will generally be far from perfect as they learn table manners.

Things to do at home:

Start introducing brushing asap. Keep sessions short and positive. Aim to do this 4+ times per week. Pop your puppy onto a counter or table (off the floor!) And start desensitizing them on body handling! Gently, but firmly, hold their feet, lift their ears, brush them, gently hold their face still for just a moment! During all of this be giving your puppy lots of high value treats (a great time to use a lick mat!) Another thing you can do at home is to use an old electric toothbrush to rub on their body as if they were a pair of grooming clippers. This introduces the sound and feeling of our grooming clippers in a safe manner.

Our Puppy Prep Program

Our Puppy Grooming Program is thoughtfully designed to introduce young puppies to the grooming environment in a calm, positive, and low-pressure setting. The goal is to gently desensitize puppies to the sights, sounds, handling, and routines of professional grooming, helping them grow into confident and well-mannered adult clients.

This program is available to puppies under 18 weeks of age at their first appointment. Puppies will visit the salon every 2–3 weeks for a total of six appointments. The first five visits include a basic bath and tidy, focusing on handling, brushing, nail trims, drying, and overall grooming etiquette. The sixth appointment is a full grooming service with a haircut, building on the comfort and trust established during earlier visits.

By attending frequent, short, and positive sessions, puppies learn that grooming is a normal and stress-free experience—setting them up for lifelong success.

Program Pricing:

Puppies expected to be under 30 lbs as adults: $300

Puppies expected to be over 30 lbs as adults: $375

This is ideal for pet parents who want to prioritize their puppy’s comfort, socialization, and long-term grooming experience from the very beginning
